Turakina Art Expo Fundraiser
Turakina Primary School
This small rural school of 33 students is forever trying to dip into the parents pockets for raffles etc. hence the idea to break the cycle and start a regular art fundraiser.
The Amazing Turakina Art Expo
The money made will enable the students to access educational and sporting events which are mostly outside of Turakina. They have to travel a fair amount to be part of these activities and it would be a great help to assist the parents with the costs involved for these activities. The overall aim is to make it so that the students are not being disadvantaged by missing out on opportunities that other students around New Zealand have at their doorsteps.
They also need help for other resources within the school that are not covered by funding and therefore the money needs to be fund raised or it just doesn’t happen.
The school has set up a Facebook page and a list of Trademe auctions to help advertise and auction the art work
My contribution
In September 2014 I was able to help a small primary school by donating a piece of art for a fundraiser. This year I am fortunate enough to be part of the event again alongside some other great donations from Dick Frizzell, Weta, John Key and many others.
This year I have donated a brightly coloured kingfisher with a tangle of pattern in the background. Every little bit helps and the school is very appreciative.
